Textbook: From Classical to Quantum Shannon Theory, by Mark M. Wilde.
Homework: one problem set for each unit (for list of units, see web site); due as announced (in general, one week after we are done with the corresponding unit).
Project: You need to do a project on a topic of your choice (selected after consultation with the Instructor by Fri., Feb. 12), write a paper on it (first draft due by Wed., Mar. 30, final by Thu., Apr. 28) and present it in class at the end of the semester (Fri., May 6, 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.). This is not meant to be original work. You just need to understand a certain subject described in an appropriate textbook and not covered in class, or in a research paper you happen to be interested in.
Grade: 50% homework; 50% project.
