There will be a test following each homework set. Each test will be based on homework, closed book, in class. Exact dates will be announced in class, generally a few days after the corresponding homework set is due.

Attendance and participation in class discussions are expected. Participation includes taking notes, asking and answering questions, going over your notes after class, and asking further questions until everything is clear.
|
Project:
| You need to do a project
on a topic of your choice (selected after consultation with the
Instructor by Fri., Sep. 13), write a paper on it (first draft due by Wed., Oct. 23, final by Wed., Dec. 4) and present it in class at the
end of the semester (Mon., Dec. 9, 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.). This is not meant to be original work. You just
need to understand a certain subject described in an appropriate
