Homework: about one problem set for each unit (for list of units, see web site); due as announced (in general, one week after we are done with the corresponding material). You will receive 50% credit for late homework.
Project: You need to do a project on a topic of your choice (selected after consultation with the Instructor by Wed., Sep. 30), write a paper on it (first draft due by Fri., Nov. 6, final by Tue., Dec. 1) and present it in class at the end of the semester (Wed., Dec. 9, 10:15 - 12:15). This is not meant to be original work. You just need to understand a certain subject described in one of the recommended textbooks and not covered in class or a research paper you happen to be interested in.
Grade: 75% homework; 25% project.
